Permit Fishing on Fort Myers Offshore Fishing Charters
Out of all the species we target on our Fort Myers offshore fishing charters, Captain Jack’s all-time favorite has to be permit.
There’s just nothing like sight fishing big schools of permit cruising the surface. These fish are a true trophy species for Southwest Florida and they grow big here. Permit in our area can reach up to 50 pounds, and it’s common to see fish in the 25–40 pound range during our trips.
On calm days, huge schools of permit will stack up on the surface — sometimes hundreds of fish together. When that happens, it turns into some of the most exciting sight fishing you could ever imagine.
Even when conditions aren’t perfect, we still find them. Between years of experience on these waters and our LiveScope and side scan technology, we’re able to locate permit schools and stay on the bite.
When the timing is right, double and even triple hook-ups happen. Drag screaming, lines crossing, everyone yelling — the kind of organized chaos that makes Fort Myers offshore fishing charters unforgettable.
Cobia & Snook on Fort Myers Offshore Fishing Charters
Another big highlight of our Fort Myers offshore fishing charters is targeting cobia and snook around reefs and offshore structure.
Cobia fishing in Fort Myers really picks up from late fall through early spring when these fish move through the area in larger numbers. They’re also one of the best tasting fish around. Legal cobia must be 36 inches to the fork, which usually puts them right around 40 inches overall.
One of the coolest parts about cobia fishing is how often we get to sight fish them. Sometimes they’re cruising right on the surface, and other times they’ll show up following another hooked fish. When that happens, you’ve always got to be ready to fire another bait in the water.
Snook are another awesome species we target on our Fort Myers offshore fishing charters. Their peak season offshore runs from late spring through early fall when big snook gather around deeper structure to spawn.
These spawning fish are usually big — often 30 to 45 inches. Because of their importance to the fishery, we use the right tackle to land them quickly, grab a quick photo, and release them safely so they can keep the population strong.
Most of the time we’re targeting both snook and cobia by dropping big baits around reefs and structure. And the fun part is you never know exactly what’s about to eat your bait.
Grouper Fishing on Fort Myers Offshore Fishing Charters
Grouper fishing is another huge part of what makes Fort Myers offshore fishing charters so exciting.
Around here we mainly target two species — Gag Grouper and Goliath Grouper.
Gag grouper fishing is best during the cooler months when these fish move into shallower water. These fish can grow up to around 35 inches in our nearshore waters and they fight incredibly hard. Once hooked, they’ll do everything they can to get back into the reef.
If you catch one during open season and in the legal size range, gag grouper are also one of the best tasting fish in the ocean.
Then there are the giants — Goliath Grouper.
These fish can grow to over 600 pounds and when they show up on the reef, everyone on the boat knows it. We target them using heavy conventional tackle with 400-pound line and large hooks.
Hooking a goliath grouper is an absolute battle and easily one of the most unforgettable experiences you can have on a Fort Myers offshore fishing charter.
They are catch-and-release only, but we usually get some incredible boat-side photos before safely releasing them back to the reef.
Other Species You’ll Catch
There are plenty of other species that make Fort Myers offshore fishing charters so much fun.
Kingfish are a big wintertime favorite. When they move through the area the bite can get fast and furious. These fish scream drag and can grow to around 50 pounds.
Snapper fishing is strong almost year-round and they’re always a guest favorite for dinner. Most snapper we catch run between 10 and 25 inches and make excellent table fare.
Triple Tail are another awesome species we target while running Fort Myers offshore fishing charters. These fish often float near crab traps on the surface and can be incredibly fun to sight cast to.

Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel your charter, we kindly ask for at least 7 days’ notice prior to your scheduled trip. Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance will receive a full refund of any deposit paid. Cancellations within 7 days of the trip are non-refundable.
Lost or Damaged Gear
Our boat is equipped with high-quality fishing gear, and we take pride in keeping it in top shape for every trip. While normal wear and tear is expected, guests are responsible for 50% of the replacement cost of any rods, reels, or tackle that are lost or broken due to negligence (e.g., dropping a rod overboard or snapping a rod while in your possession).
